Optional course on human rights to be piloted from September 1

Twenty-one teachers are trained by Amnesty International Moldova for piloting the optional course “Education for Human Rights” in 21 schools of Moldova between September 1, 2013 and May 31, 2014. The course is intended for fourth-ninth graders and will be taught based on the educational set “I Have the Right to Know my Rights!”, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from Amnesty International Moldova, “Education for Human Rights” is aimed at informing, sensitizing and enabling the students to take informed steps to defend their and other people’s rights.

Within the pilot project, the trained teachers will give by two lessons on human rights a week. They will use the teaching course “I Have the Right to Know my Rights!” compiled by Amnesty International Moldova in cooperation with experts in education and human rights.

The teachers and students will contribute to improving the piloted materials, using the lesson assessment techniques and instruments proposed by Amnesty International Moldova. The teachers will come together for sessions monthly to analyze the piloting process.
