Opposition party says the government will only assist the districts led by the Communist Party
It becomes increasingly obvious that the current government intends to help (financially, materially, etc) only those territories where the seats were won by the PCRM on June 3, reads a statement by the Republican People’s Party (PPR).
According to the party, the government has already divided all second-tier territorial administrative units in “ours”, meaning those administered by representatives of the ruling party and “the others” – those belonging to representatives of opposition parties.
“Such a tactic of ‘segregation’ works to the detriment of people, and reveals the fraudulent, anti-popular and anti-European character of the politics led by the party. It is evident that with the conditions set by the current drought, President Voronin plans to employ a vicious scheme of “centralised distribution” of humanitarian international aid for the purpose to consolidate the position of the PCRM in certain areas”, the statement added.
PPR also believes that in the conditions set by the drought and canicular weather, the Parliament will have the duty to introduce a regime of emergency in agriculture, while the Government will have to undertake necessary measures to minimise the disastrous effects of the drought. It is crucial to formulate emergency mechanisms which would allow for the distribution of international aid to the areas most severely affected.
The Party makes calls on all the heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organisations in Moldova to consider these factors, especially as international aid will be distributed fairly, only if the distribution of funds will be directly proportional to the needs of each territory.
