Opposition MPs face penalties

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu in the meeting of the Standing Bureau will ask that the MPs of the three groups who left the December 2 sitting and a quorum was thus absent should be penalized, IPN reports.

Hearings on the rigging of bids for supplying food products to education institutions were to be held within the sitting. Andrian Candu said it was the duty of the MPs to listen to the reports of officials in change of the Government and other institutions. “Regrettably, some of the MPs, especially of the opposition, as usual consider that the political shows are more important than such subjects for society and boycotted the parliamentary sitting,” he stated.

The Speaker noted that this issue will be yet discussed as it is of major importance. Therefore, next week he will request the Standing Bureau to examine the possibility of introducing disciplinary measures, including cutting of salaries of MPs who left the sitting.
