The MPs of the opposition in the March 16 sitting of Parliament requested to question the National Bank governor, prosecutor general, minister of the interior, the Security and Intelligence Service’s administration and director of the National Anticorruption Center. The invoked reasons were different. When put to the vote, the proposals weren’t accepted by the parliamentary majority, IPN reports.
The Liberal-Democratic group asked to question Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan about the fires that occurred this month in Hancesti district. MP Iurie Tap said the firemen didn’t intervene promptly to deal with the last two fires and, as a result, a man remained without home, while the other fire destroyed a storehouse. The Liberals supported the proposal. MP Lilian Carp said the minister should also be questioned about the way in which the money allocated for improving the emergencies service was spent. The proposal was short of votes.
The Socialist MPs requested to question National Bank governor about the second Kroll report that wasn’t made public and the prosecutor general and director of the National Anticorruption Center about the process of recovering the money stolen from the banking system. The proposal was supported by the Liberals, the Lib-Dems and the Communists. The MPs said the people have the right to known the content of the second Kroll report and who was involved in the banking frauds. This proposal was also short of votes.
The Socialist MPs also demanded to question the minister of the interior, the administration of the Security and Intelligence Service and prosecutor general about the unionist marches that are to be mounted in the near future. The Liberals invoked the freedom of assembly and called on the people to take part in the activities staged by the unionists. This proposal wasn’t accepted either.
