“Moldova during 29 years wasn’t lucky to have a good administration. But today we will not speak about this. Today we will speak about the good people of Moldova. We are lucky to have them! They didn’t ask for applause and do not need rostrums. They did their job honorably and made Moldova better without asking for something instead. We want more people to know them and they should inspire us to improve things no matter where we are,” the leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity Maia Sandu wrote in a posting on Facebook that is quoted by IPN.
Andrei Năstase, the president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, disseminated a video on the occasion of Moldova’s Independence Day, reminding how the independence was won and how important it is to continue the struggle. “The independence of the Republic of Moldova was defended with great sacrifices, courage, tears and dignity. It’s time to think how independence should look like in 2021! Of an arrogant government protected by a metal fence or of a free nation with the future in front of it?” stated the politician.
In a posting on Facebook, Liberal Party president Dorin Chirtoacă says the atmosphere today was rather of mourning and it was seen that the independence is sold to Russia in exchange for the protection offered to the ruling thieves. He went to the monument to ruler Stephan the Great to express his dissatisfaction. “In 1991, the independence was declared in order to separate ourselves from the USSR and to make the Union. We managed partially to do this. But today we risk fully losing the independence owing to the regime and the traitor of nation and country heading it,” stated Dorin Chirtoacă.
The National Unity Party in a statement noted that after 29 years of failed political experiments, time has come to take the next natural and logical step after the proclamation of Independence – the Union with Romania. ”It’s time to finish the work started on August 27, 1991 by reunifying the Romanian area. In the name of our ancestors who fought and died for this land and in the name of our children who deserve a better fate. God help us,” reads the statement.
The Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldovan was adopted and signed by 278 MPs on August 27, 1991.
