Opinion leaders announce launch of Civic Platform Dignity and Truth

A team of experts, who are opinion leaders, announced the launch of the Civic Platform Dignity and Truth, which is an open, politically unaffiliated organization whose goal is to gather demands and opinions from different social sections for articulating them and supporting them coherently and for discussing them with the development partners.

In a news conference at IPN, one of the members of the platform, politologist Oazu Nantoi said a higher number of questions concerning the actions and behavior of the ruling parties appeared. “We want to return the state to the people. This is our common goal – to bring to an end the demagogy concerning the fight against corruption and the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU. We want a state in which sovereignty belongs to the people,” he stated.

According to politologist Igor Botan, the platform appeared out of every citizen’s dissatisfaction with the problems exiting in society. If the personal displeasure is not channeled and articulated by consensus so that it has synergy, everyone will remain an ordinary citizen who is discontented and in despair.

Lawyer Andrei Nastase said society is tired of the speculative games on the financial market, poverty and other problems. “We must join efforts and forget about affiliation to certain groups or political aspirations. We must be a nucleus of society that would be attractive by its goals. We must save the country,” stated the lawyer.

Specialist in broadcasting Angela Arama said the platform was created because the government’s actions in 2009-2014 didn’t meet people’s expectations. “We witnessed a continuous row of public scandals caused by serious wrongdoings and lack of political will to do the justice sector reform. Those to blame weren’t punished and the people lost the feeling that they are under the rule of law,” she stated.

Student Dinu Plingau said the platform will represent groups of people who cannot defend their rights themselves. “We decided that if we, the representatives of civil society come together, we will discuss and do things and will exert pressure on the political class so that it does what it should,” he stated.

Ex-Deputy Prime Minister Valentin Dolganiuc said one of the desiderata of the platform is the path to the EU, where the basic human rights and freedoms are respected.

The members of the platform are: Oazu Nantoi; Igor Botan; Valentin Dolganiuc; Stanislav Pavlovschi; Mihai Manole; Olesea Stamate; Mariana Kalughin; Cornelia Cozonac; Angela Arama; Alexandru Cozer; Vasile Zgardan; Vasile Nastase; Dinu Plingau; Andrei Nastase, and Nicolae Misail.
