'Open sky' between Moldova and EU
The report on the creation of a common airspace between the European Union and Moldova is to be discussed in Brussels in the near future, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the European official, the EU group of experts who visited Moldova to consider the possibility of opening the talks on signing an agreement titled “Open Sky” has been compiled. The agreement provides for the liberalization of Moldova's airspace, offers more travel opportunities and increased security, and ensures greater competition on Moldova's air services market.
This August, Prime Minister Vlad Filat addressed a letter to the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, whereby he informs about Moldova's wish to liberalize air transport and admit low-cost airlines. An agreement to establish a common space with the EU is thus necessary.
