If legislative elections were held next Sunday, the Communist Party and the Liberal Party would definitely enter the Parliament with 30.6% and, respectively, 5.6% of the vote, on condition that the undecided voters make up 22%, shows the national survey “Social Monitor – 2008” presented on December 17, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the survey, the two parties would be followed by the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party with 4.4% of the vote, the Liberal Democratic Party with 4.4%, the Democratic Party with 4.2%, the Social Democratic Party with 3.7%, etc. Each fourth person would not vote for the ruling party. 32% would not vote for a party that is irresponsible, 30% - for a corrupt party, while 9% - for a party that lacks the necessary experience. 9.6% of those surveyed said that the PCRM made good changes, while 9% said they raised the pensions and salaries. Most often, the parties are associated with the words: Democracy (PD, PSD, PLDM), Europe (AMN, PL, Actiunea Europeana Movement), Romania (the National Liberal Party, the Christian Democratic People’s Party), Russia (Ravnopravie Movement). The survey shows that the elections would be won by the parties that would prove they can create new workplaces (45% of the respondents) and attract foreign investment (26%). At social level, the future government should increase pensions and insure a decent living for all the citizens (48% of the respondents), reduce the inequality of incomes (25%). At cultural level, the governors should insure the social growth of the state and respect for the people of culture (22% of the respondents), but also strengthen the role of the official language in the society (16%). Half of the respondents are in favor of increasing the spending on public education and modernizing the education system. Asked to describe a modern politician, the respondents said that he must deal with the problems of the citizens, be a good administrator, be young and energetic, experienced and exigent, courageous and honest. 45.9% of those polled trust the incumbent President Vladimir Voronin the most, 35.3% - Speaker Marian Lupu, 31.5% - the current Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi, 30.5% - the former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, 26.5% - the Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, etc. The national survey “Social Monitor – 2008” was commissioned by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative (IDIS) “Viitorul” and conducted by the Centre for Sociological Research and Marketing CBS-AXA. It was carried out between November 16 and 24, 2008 and covered a representative sample of adults. The margin of error is ± 3%.
