Medical face masks are worn only by infected persons and by those who provide medical assistance to infected persons. Among these are the medical personnel and the family members who look after a person who contracted the virus, said the director of the National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună.
“As I’m not infected and keep the social distance, stay at home, respect the personal hygiene rules, the coughing and sneezing rules and other recommendations formulated by the authorities, I do not wear a mask,” IPN quoted Nicolae Furtună as saying in a press briefing.
The World Health Organization recommends the healthy persons to wear a mask only if they looked after an infected person. The coughing and sneezing persons should also wear masks.
The masks are efficient only when the hands are frequently sanitized with disinfectants or with water and soup. Those who wear masks should know how to wear and to remove them correctly.
