Only over 12% of Chisinau teachers are young specialists
A number of 10,700 teachers work in schools and kindergartens in Chisinau at present. 12.7% of them are young specialists. The share of working retired teachers rose from 9.84% in 2007 to 12.88% in 2008, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a report by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport.
This year, only 92 graduates applied for posts at the Chisinau schools, as assigned by the Ministry of Education and Youth.
The vacant posts were filled by teachers holding several posts simultaneously and by last-year students.
Officials of the Division said the graduates of teacher-training universities do not want to work at schools in Chisinau as the discrepancy between the state allowances paid to young teachers in rural areas and to those in urban areas is too wide – 23,000-30,000 lei and, respectively, 400-500 lei.
