Only organizers of April 7 protests are still under arrest, Prosecutor General’s Office

Only the organizers of the April 7 public disorder and the persons with a criminal record are now under arrest, the Prosecutor General’s Office says in a communiqué. The institution does not yet say how many persons are still under arrest, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the communiqué issued on Tuesday, the persons that participated in the April 7 protests have been set free. So far, the prosecutors demanded that the administrative punishments imposed on 32 persons arrested after the protests be suspended until the cases are examined by the Court of Appeals. At the same time, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions announced that 98 persons suspected of involvement in the April 7 riots had been released from arrest. According to the Department, 106 persons, including four minors, had been held in the Penitentiary No. 13 in Chisinau. The prosecutors pleaded in court for the release of the participants in the April 7 protests after the head of state demanded this in a televised discourse on Moldova 1. The buildings of the Presidential Office and the Parliament were devastated on April 7.
