Parliament on February 24 stages an online workshop to make martsishors – amulets worn at chest to mark the coming of sprint – by which the events that will be held to celibate the new spring is kicked off. The masterclass is organized by the Parliament’s local information office in Edineț, IPN reports.
A number of craftspeople from northern Moldova are showcasing their talent and skillfulness. The event also involves members of the Parliament’s commission on education, research, sport and the media and employees of the culture divisions of Briceni, Edineț, Ocnița and Dondușeni. Each of the four districts present martsishors making techniques and traditions.
“We aimed to show unique details of handcrafting in in the northern districts of the Republic of Moldova and to also offer the people the possibility of following the process of making martsishors. We consider that this way we will manage to sensitize society to the keeping and promotion of national cultural traditions,” stated Stela Belitei, senior consultant of the Edineț local office.
Parliament will also mount other events to mark the coming of spring. On February 25, there will be staged the second fair of martsishors “Spring that unites us” that will present works by craftsmen and children from social institutions of the municipality of Chisinau. On March 1, there will be mounted a painting exhibition inside the Parliament Building. The local information office of Parliament will stage contests of handmade martsishors. Regional women’s forums will be held in regions.
