Online petition for withdrawing fireworks from sale

An online petition launched by Ana Constantinova demands to withdraw the pyrotechnics from sale in Moldova. The author invokes the negative effects on climate, physical and psychical damage caused to animals and safety reasons, IPN reports.

The petition says the fireworks are also a source of pollution. “The fine particulate matter released into the atmosphere are considered noxious for the human and animal health,” said the author.

The petition was launched on petitieonline.com and has been signed by over 100 persons so far.

The legislation does not ban the sale and utilization of pyrotechnics, but bans their purchase through ambulatory trading units or at markets. The setting off of fireworks in localities between 10pm and 7am is banned, if only at national or international events. The use of pyrotechnics is also banned on public roads, pedestrian alleys and open crowded places and at a distance shorter than 50 meters from woods.
