Since the holidays started, one third of the children did not go to kindergartens in Chisinau. They are left home in the care of the elder siblings, who are on vacation, or other relatives. The parents take such a decision as they want their smaller children to enjoy the holidays in the family as well as to save money. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said the kindergarten attendance rate does not exceed 70%. At the same time, only 3% of the children are absent because they are sick. There are 151 kindergartens in the municipality of Chisinau that are attended by over 32,000 children.
