One of witnesses in case of suspended policeman Ion Perju threatened with death

Valeriu Mosneaga, the prosecutor examining the case of the suspended police officer Ion Perju, said one of the witnesses, Marcela Donos, is being threatened with death. The statement was made in the September 6 hearing that was attended by the wife of Valeriu Boboc, who was killed during the April 2009 protests. Natalia Boboc was questioned as the injured party, Info-Prim Neo reports. Natalia Boboc related details about the night of April 8, 2009, how she found out that her husband died and about the pictures showing somebody kicking Valeriu Boboc, which were presented on April 1. The woman was asked if she recognized her husband Valeriu Boboc in the pictures. She said she was sure it was her husband there. “I recognized him by his clothes and form of the body,” she said. Asked by the judge if she had complaints against Ion Perju, who is accused of murdering Valeriu Boboc, Natalia said she will present them in written form. In the same hearing, there was questioned Ion Perju's former colleague Ruslan Saachian, the head of the criminal police division, who was in the Great National Assembly Square that night. He said he was instructed to monitor the situation and he was accompanied by a number of police officers, including Ion Perju. “I saw a man lying near the Triumphal Arch. I took his pulse and saw he was alive,” Saachian said. Another three witnesses will be questioned in the next hearing on September 27. Ion Perju, who was arrested this April, pleads not guilty. He said that night he was in Chisinau's central square, but did not kick Valeriu Boboc. The warrant for his house arrest was extended for another 90 days.
