One of the victims of the gas cylinder explosion that occurred in a café in the Central Market of Chisinau died on January 17, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Health, the next day after the fire the man was transferred to the intensive care section of the Burns Center, where he received the necessary treatment.

In five days, following the worsening of his general state, the man was taken to the Emergency Medicine Institute for complex specialized treatment. The victim suffered first- and second-degree burns on 20% of the body and of the respiratory system.

The man died as a result of polyorganic failure. The authorities said the doctors made maximum effort to save the patient.

The blast happened on January 9. Three of the victims, who were in a serious state, were transported to Romania for treatment.
