One of the persons who was injured in the May 13 accident that involved a minibus running on the Soroca-Bălț route – a woman aged 73 - remains in intensive care. The other persons who were taken to the hospital were recommended home treatment.
Contacted by IPN for details, Mihaela Petrova, PR specialist of the Bălți Clinical Hospital, said the minibus passengers and the occupants of the car, including the drivers, were all taken to the hospital.
The 73-year-old woman who suffered serious injuries was in the car whose driver is thought to have caused the accident.
Mihaela Petrova stated that the persons stuffed fractures, contusions and excoriations, but their lives are out of danger and they were allowed to go home.
Acceding to the Bălți Police Inspectorate, a Volkswagen car driven by a man aged 50 changed lanes in unknown circumstances and collided head-on with a route minibus moving legally.
The Inspectorate’s press officer Eugenia Molchanov has told IPN that no person was arrested as a result of the accident. A criminal case was started over violation of the road safety rules or rules of exploiting units of transport by the person driving the vehicle. The punishment for the driver will be decided depending on the gravity of the injuries suffered by the persons involved in the accident. This faces three to seven years in jail and ban on driving.
