One more suspect in case of Tax Inspectorate to stand trial

The criminal case started against one of the so-called businessmen investigated in the case concerning the State Main Tax Inspectorate was sent to court. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office remitted the case to the Centru Court, which is to also examine the cases against the man’s accomplices – the head of the Inspectorate’s Antifraud Division and the head of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Agrifood Products “MoldRosProdExpo”, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the three culprits are accused of passive corruption and traffic of influence in the interests of an organized criminal group.

The men were arrested at the start of February, after they were caught with US$135,300 and 100,000 lei bribe. They asked and received the money from a number of companies for providing particular tax concessions within the competence of the State Main Tax Inspectorate.

The prosecutors established that when they committed the offenses, the culprits used such luxury cars as Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover Discovery. The vehicles may be confiscated for the benefit of the state.
