One more person is suspected of bribing a policeman
A man aged 57 from Chisinau is suspected of attempting to bribe an officer of the Centre for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in order to stop penal proceedings against him.
According to the press service of the MIA, Ion Lungu was arrested in the office of the policemen whilst attempting to offer USD 1000 to stop penal proceedings against him in a case of trafficking in human beings. Lupu is suspected of trafficking a young woman aged 23 in Dubai, Unite Arab Emirates, were he took sexual advantage of her during 3 months. The police investigations found out that the suspect was previously convicted for a period of 15 years for trafficking in human beings.
At present the officers of the Centre for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings together with the employees of the Anticorruption Prosecution Office initiated penal proceedings against Lungu on the basis of the 325th article of the Penal Code of Moldova. If he will be found guilty, Lungu might spend 7 years in jail.
Previously, in the case of a policeman who refused a bribe of MDL 40, the Press Service of the MIA announced that his office was equipped with special video devices.
178 corruption cases were found out since the beginning of the year.
