Thirteen persons have so far announced their intention to take part in the November 30 parliamentary elections as independent candidates. Chisinau councilor Oleg Cernei asked for the subscription list from the Central Election Commission (CEC) for collecting signatures on October 9, the Commission’s secretary Andrei Volentir has told IPN.

Under the Election Code, to be registered as independents, the persons must present 2,000 valid signatures to the CEC.

The election threshold in the legislative elections for independent candidates is 2%.
