A family doctor working for the Caracușenii Vechi Family Doctors Office of the Briceni Health Center lost the battle with COVID-19. Elena Pleșca, 60, was transferred from the Briceni District Hospital to the Edineț District Hospital on November 25, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection offered its condolences to the family and colleagues. This is the 19th death from COVID-19 reported today and the 2,323rd one recorded since the start of the pandemic in Moldova. The virus claimed the lives of 57 healthcare workers so far.
Statistics for December 1 show 1,499 new infections with the novel coronavirus. There were done over 3,500 tests, 3,101 or which were primary ones.
There are now over 3,700 patients with COVID-19 in hospitals. Of them, 294 are in a very serious state and 43 were put on a ventilator. The persons with mild forms of the infection are receiving treatment at home. Moldova has got over 108,000 cases of COVID-19 by now.
