One more candidate for presidency registered in Transnistria
The leader of Transnistria’s Communists Oleg Horjan was registered as a candidate running in the so-called presidential elections in the breakaway republic, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Transnistrian news portal dniester.ru.
“The leader of the Communist Party of Transnistria Oleg Horjan was registered as a runner in the presidential elections that will take place on December 18. He submitted over 10,000 signatures of voters supporting him to the Transnistrian central election commission,” said the quoted source.
In order to be registered as a candidate for the presidency, the applicants must present more than 8,000 signatures in their support, which is about 2% of the region’s population.
Among the registered candidates are the leader of the Transnistrian region Igor Smirnov, who has headed the self-proclaimed republic since 1990, the leader of the movement “Obnovlenie” Anatol Kaminski, the head of the organization “Proryv” Dmitry Soin, politologist Andrei Safonov, and former Speaker of Transnistria Evghenii Shevchuk.
