One more architectural monument demolished in Chisinau
Another architectural monument situated in the historical center of Chisinau was pulled down on February 7. According to the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration, the building located on Vasile Alecsandri St was demolished without the consent of the Culture Ministry's National Council of Historical Monuments.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the Agency's deputy head Ecaterina Balan said the monument is a private building dating from the 20th century.
An important architectural monument situated at the intersection of the streets Columna and Banulescu-Bodoni was taken down last December. An attempt to knock down a monument situated on Petru Movila St was made early this year.
A Register of Architectural Monuments of Local Importance was compiled by order of Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca. It is to be approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council. Plates with information about the history of the monuments will be placed on every important building.
