One Moldovan killed, two injured in Ukraine bus crash
A Moldovan woman died and two other Moldovans were severely injured after a bus traveling from Chisinau to Moscow overturned in Chernigiv Oblast, Ukraine, on Sunday.
Eugen Vitu of the Moldovan Embassy in Kiev has told Info-Prim Neo that the name of the woman was Cecilia Angheni, aged 29. The body is to be repatriated on Monday or Tuesday with the help of the transport company owning the bus.
The other victims, Gheorghe Rudenco, aged 62, and Galina Tofan, aged 46, are in critical condition at the Chernigiv-based Hospital no.2. They suffered fractures of the arms and severe injuries of the internal organs.
According to preliminary information offered to the Embassy by the Ukrainian traffic police, the driver of the bus, a Moldovan national too, is to blame for the accident, as he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. He will face criminal proceedings in Ukraine.
Aboard the bus were 55 persons, four of whom were Ukrainians, one Russian, and the rest Moldovans, including two drivers.
Four Moldovans were killed and other 19 injured in a copycat accident in the same Ukrainian district two months ago, when a Moldovan bus traveling on the same route to Moscow overturned after the driver fell asleep. He is now being prosecuted in Ukraine.
