One-minute silence observed in Parliament in memory of Constanța fire victims

The MPs held a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the fire that occurred today at the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Romania’s Constanța, IPN reports.

“We have sad news coming from over the Prut. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania, seven persons died today in a fire in Constanța’s Hospital for Infectious Diseases. The persons were in the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit. We offer sincere condolences to the families that lost the close ones in this tragedy,” said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

In this connection, PAS MP Ana Oglindă suggested inspecting the electrics in the hospitals of the Republic of Moldova, especially those where patients with COVID-19 are held so as to prevent eventual risks of fire.

Igor Grosu asked the Ministry of Health to initiate such inspections as swiftly as possible. He noted that if the normative framework needs to be amended, the legislative body will offer the necessary support to the competent bodies so as to prevent such situations.
