One-minute films about cross-cultural interaction as seen by youth

The International Video Laboratory for Young People, organised by OWH TV Studio with the financial support of the European Youth Foundation (EYF) will take place from April 27 to May 2 in Chisinau. For one week, 21 young people from seven countries (Albania, Macedonia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova) will learn how to produce one-minute films. The shorts will focus on inter-cultural similarities and differences, this year’s edition of the workshops being dedicated to the “All Different – All Equal” campaign. According to Victoria Coroban, project coordinator, the trainees will act as playwrights, directors and actors at the same time. They will make films inspired from their own ideas and will be assisted by professional video editors and cameramen. The main trainer who will guide them during their work is director Violeta Gorgos. The shorts will make their first appearance on the big screen within the framework of the VI International Documentary Film Festival “Cronograf”, which will be held in Chisinau on May 1-5, with a special event featuring one-minute films scheduled for May 2. The organisers say that these workshops, held for the fifth time in Moldova, are aiming to instruct teenagers in the field of film making and to encourage young people to express their views on the world within the limits of a one-minute film. The previous editions were attended by about 70 young people from Moldova and abroad, who made 90 shorts and video spots that were screened on local TV stations in Moldova and several channels from abroad, gaining appreciation at diverse international movie festivals.
