One killed, three injured in Wednesday's traffic accidents
A person died and three other – including two minors – sustained various injuries in four traffic accidents that occurred on Chisinau roads on Wednesday, May 7.
Inspector Ion Roscovanu of the Chisinau Traffic Police has told Info-Prim Neo a fatal accident occurred shortly after midnight, technically on Thursday; a 55-year-old man tried to jaywalk across Bucovina Street when he was hit by a Mercedes-814 truck. The sustained injuries were so severe that the pedestrian died on the scene.
Earlier at 9:30 a Mercedes share taxi on route 125 struck a 52-year-old male pedestrian on Bucuresti Street. The man suffered head trauma.
The collision between a Lifan vehicle and a Liaz bus on route 44, which occurred on Muncesti Street, resulted in brain concussion for a 13-year-old girl aboard the bus.
At around 21:30 a Volkswagen Golf struck a 17-year-old driving an Aprelia motor scooter on Traian Boulevard. The young man suffered trauma of the shank.
A nameless man in his mid 40s was found on Mircea cel Batran Blvd. with head trauma, occipital wound and in a state of advanced drunkenness.
Over the past day and night, the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 737 calls, including 74 cases of trauma, 33 cases of acute viral diseases, 8 cases of mumps, and 6 brain strokes. During the same period, traffic officers fined 349 persons, including 62 for speeding, 38 for driving on red and 15 for drunk-driving.
