One fourth of children do not go to kindergarten because they are sick or on vacation
The attendance rate at the kindergartens of Chisinau municipality is 74%. A large part of the children do not go to kindergarten because they are sick, suffering mainly from respiratory diseases, while the others are on vacation with the parents or simply stay at home for several days.
The attendance and other issues were discussed in a meeting that involved about 150 kindergarten managers. Florica Rusu, head of the General Education Division’s Preschool Education Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that in order to prevent the children from getting sick, the temperature of every child brought to the kindergarten in the morning must be measured and discussions should be held with the parents. The rooms must be aired every time the children go out.
As to the extremely cold weather, Florica Rusu said that all the kindergartens work according to the ordinary program. The managers were warned to shorten the program if the temperatures fall further. Additional heating devices will be used where needed.
The meeting also focused on the correct use of time during the day. In the first part of the day, emphasis will be laid on the education process, while in the second part – on development games in rooms and in the open air.
In the municipality of Chisinau, there are 155 kindergartens, 153 of which are working. Two were closed for repair works.
