Oncological Institute spokeswoman suspended from post for talking to press

The spokeswoman for the Oncological Institute Rodica Tomashenco said that she was suspended from post after she made statements for a TV channel and said that corruption cancer should be rooted out from the health system as a tumor. Rodica Tomashenco informed about this through her Facebook page. She called on Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco to become involved in solving this case, IPN reports.

According to Rodica Tomashenco, she was asked by TV journalists to comment on the arrest of a division head of the Oncological Institute by anticorruption officers. The doctor was denounced by a patient who said that this asked €2,000 from him for admitting an incurably ill person and for hastening cancer treatment.

Rodica Tomashenco said the Oncological Institute at the moment is fighting against the employees who opposed the managerial policies of Larisa Catrinici, whose ‘successors’ continue work, as all their relatives.

She requested the minister of health to offer her the possibility of showing that she does not have criminal cases and does not take bribe.

On February 18, the court issued a warrant for the arrest of a division head of the Oncological Institute for 20 days after this was denounced to the police for having asked €2,000 bribe. The National Anticorruption Center said one more denouncement against the doctor was made meanwhile.
