On their professional day, Government promises support to teachers

The teachers are those who educate the country’s future and these should be respected and supported according to merit. The Government pledges to promote reforms so that the teachers are remunerated appropriately. Such statements were made by officials in the celebrations on the occasion of the Teacher’s Day that is usually marked on the first Sunday of October, IPN reports.

Minister of Education Corina Fusu said the future of a society is in the hands of teachers and urged the young teachers to be strong and not to yield to difficulties and to see their passion growing and turning into a wish to teach children as the profession of teacher becomes vocation in time.

The minister added that the teachers should be an example not only for students, but also for the whole society, while education must become a more prestigious sector and the Government should look for financial support to improve the working conditions of teachers.

Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet noted that the positions we hold and the results we achieve are due to our teachers. Behind these successes, there is hard work, the teachers being also those who promote the national values. “You were those who three years ago implemented ambitious, in parts unpopular, but necessary reforms in education,” he stated.

The Premier said he agrees that the durability of reforms cannot be ensured without financial stimuli, but also without a greater dedication of teachers and motivation for young teachers. We will mobilize our efforts so as to bring the changes closer and the teachers with good performance are remunerated appropriately,” he stated.

After the officials made statements, a number of teachers received diplomats from the Government for their accomplishments.
