The avenues Stefan cel Mare, Dacia, Decebal, Mircea cel Batran, soseaua Hancesti, streets Ismail, Muncesti, Vasile Alecsandri and Albisoara are, according to Road Police of Chisinau, the areas where many accidents happened in 2005. The inspector of the Road Security, Administrative Supervision and public relations Service of Road Police of Chisinau, Ion Roscovanu, said that about 1,300 accidents registered last year, 47 happened on the avenue Dacia, where 6 persons died and 56 were injured. On the avenue Stefan cel Mare there happened 32 accidents, resulting with 3 dead persons and 39 injured. Five persons died and 25 suffered different traumas on the street Muncesti, 5 persons died and 16 were injured in 13 accidents produced on the street Ismail. On the avenue Mircea cel Batran there were registered 11 accidents, where 3 persons died and 17 were injured. In 194 accidents of the whole number with children’s involvement resulted with death of 6 children and other 200 were injured. Ion Roscovanu note that the majority of accidents were registered in November - 149 accidents, followed by December 146. Fewer accidents happened, 65, in February. The statistic shows that Saturday is on the top of the weekdays regarding the great number of accidents. Thus, on Saturdays there were registered 206 accidents, representing 15,9% of the total number, Thursdays – 201, Fridays – 199, Wednesdays – 198, Tuesdays – 181, Sundays – 169 and Mondays – 140. The rush hours, he mentioned, are between 16:00 and 18:00, when 193 accidents were registered, followed between 18:00 and 20:00 with 166 accidents, 14:00-16:00 with 146 accidents. Fewer accidents, 54, were registered at 6:00 and 8:00. On the first spot of the top of accidents is, in Chisinau, hitting pedestrians – 692 accidents, followed cars accidents – with 440, speed excess – with 294 and hitting obstacles –78 accidents. Every 7-th accident –happened because of pedestrians’ guilt, Ion Roscovanu underlined. In the first 2 months of 2006, according to him, the number of acciodents decreased comparing to last year, but the number of victims increased, of dead ones and of the injured ones as well, 11 deaths and 192 injured.
