On January 15 it is 160 years of Mihai Eminescu's birth

The genius of the universal poetry Mihai Eminescu was born in Ipotesti, Botosani, 160 years ago on January 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. The commemoration events in Chisinau will start with laying of flowers to Mihai Eminescu's monument located in the Organ House square and to his bust on the Alley of Romanian Classical Writers. A recital of poetry and music will be held near Mihai Eminescu's bust. Book exhibitions, literary soirees, interactive conferences and book launches will take place in the libraries of Chisinau. A commemoration program will start at the Romanian Language House at 14.00. It will focus on Eminescu as seen by the great actor and director Ion Ungureanu, who founded “Luceafarul” Theater. That troupe initiated the national rebirth process in the Soviet period. The Romanian Language House will also house a conference themed “Eminescu and the Theory of Singular Point" and an exhibition of paintings. A concert dedicated to the great bard will take place at the National Palace in the evening. Mihai Eminescu was born in Moldova, grew up in Bucovina and studied in Ardeal and Vienna. During only 17 years, he wrote a large number of poems, dramas, novels, philosophical essays etc. His poems span a large range of themes, from nature and love to hate and social commentary. He frequently used metaphysical, mythological and historical subjects.
