On December 16, laws were adopted without violating Constitution, Socialist MP

The laws adopted in the December 16 siting of Parliament do not violate the provisions of the Constitution as there is no Constitutional Court judgment confirming this. “If they were adopted at midnight, it means time came for them to be adopted according to the agenda. The sitting started at 1:30pm and ended at 11pm,” Socialist MP Oleg Lipskii argued in the talk show “Expertise Hour” on Jurnal TV channel, being quoted by IPN.

Oleg Lipskii said the opposition MPs didn’t attend the evening sitting as they left the assembly hall of their own free will. As to the lowering of the retirement age for which no funds were remarked in the 2021 state budget for being implemented, the MP said the law will take effect at the start of 2022 and money for the purpose is not needed in 2021.

PAS MP Oazu Nantoi accused the Party of Socialists and the Shor Party of adopting that package of laws so as to have what to base their election campaign in eventual snap parliamentary elections on. “You undermine the statehood of the Republic of Moldova by generating crises in a number of areas, especially the social-economic one. You mislead the people and betray the country by begging money from Moscow for the election campaign,” stated the MP, expressing his indignation.

Marina Tauber, MP of the Shor Party, said that each of the bills adopted in that evening sitting is aimed at improving the living conditions of Moldovans.

PPPDA MP Igor Munteanu noted that most of the laws carried by the PSRM-For Moldova coalition were adopted for electoral purposes, without assessing the consequences, so that someone has populist arguments in the election campaign. The law to lower the retirement age does not have financial coverage. “It is deformation of the social insurance system as no one asked the responsible institutions where they will take this money from. Instead of offering work to more people, they (MPs of PSRM-For Moldova, e.n.) offer electoral benefits before the campaign,” he stated.

The set of laws was adopted by the MPs of the Party of Socialists and For Moldova Platform, which includes the MPs of the Shor Part, on December 16. The opposition MPs, who were absent from that sitting, said the laws were adopted in secret, with serious violations of the regulations, and are toxic for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
