Ombudswoman calls on ministries to closely monitor situation in summer camps
The ombudswoman for children's rights Tamara Plamadeala submitted a recommendation to the Government, especially the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, urging it to more attentively monitor the situation in summer camps.
The ombudswoman made the approach after visiting the summer camp “La Popas”, where five 15-year-old girls went home after they had been humiliated by educators. “The educators must adopt individual approaches in dealing with the children resting at the camp as they are all different,” Tamara Plamadeala stated for Info-Prim Neo.
The five girls were forced out of the rooms by educators because they were making noise and ordered to do exercises. One of the educators splashed them with cold water and left them barefooted on the stadium. The senior educator told the girls to clean the toilet and wash the floor. The Prosecutor's Office closed the case as there was no conclusive evidence.
