Ombudsperson starts creating chidlren's consultative councils
The ombudswoman for chidlren's rights Tamara Plamadeala announced the setting up of a national consultative council composed of children aged between 14 and 18. “I do not want to suggest legislative amendments without consulting with the children first. I will engage them in public debates so that their message reaches the decision makers though my agency,” Tamara Plamadeala stated for Info-Prim Neo.
The constitution meeting of the council will take place on March 19. “A number of organizations working in the field have been invited. We will discuss measures aimed at supporting the Moldovan children,” she said.
From April, chidlren's consultative councils will be created in every district. There will be held debates where the children will speak about the problems they face and propose solutions to them. “We aim to identify the problems confronting the children in every region of the country and find solutions with the help of the children,” the ombudswoman said.
