The body of Mihail Cotorobai will be laid at St. Teodora de la Sihla Church in Chisinau on January 9, starting at 4pm, IPN reports, with reference to the Human Rights and Communication Division of the Ombudsman’s Office.
The religious ceremony and requiem will be held on January 10, starting at 11:00am, while the funerals will begin at 12:30pm. Mihail Cotorobai will be buried at the Central Cemetery situated on Armenească St in Chisinau.
Ombudsman Mihail Cotorobai, a member of Moldova’s first Parliament, passed away on January 6, after losing the battle with COVID-19.
Mihail Cotorobai was born in Puhoi commune of Ialoveni district on March 25, 1951. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Saint Petersburg State University and the Retraining Faculty of the Moscow State University “M.V. Lomonosov”. He was the Constitutional Court’s officer of liaison with the Venice Commission and the Association of Francophone Constitutional Courts. During many years he worked as a lawyer, while since 2015 until now he held the high-ranking post of ombudsman. Mihail Cotorobai was awarded the Order of the Republic, the Order of Honor, the honorific title “Emeritus Man” and the title of Citizen of Honor of Ialoveni district.
