Ombudsman Ivan Cucu asks Government to provide Soroca victims with dwelling
The parliamentary advocate Ivan Cucu asks the Government to deal with the problems of the Soroca blast victims and to cover the expenses related to the loss of property in the shortest space of time.
The advocate considers that the living conditions of the victims leave much to be desired because they cannot prepare food, the rooms have only beds and in some cases tables too. The temporary accommodation until next spring is inadmissible if the victims are not provided with real guarantees that their dwelling problem will be solved, Ivan Cucu considers.
Discussing with the victims, the ombudsmen found out that the persons that lost their entire property do not know if they will be provided with dwelling or if their expenses will be covered. According to Cucu, the victims are uncertain about their future because the identification of a solution to these problems is postponed.
The blast in the residential block located on 117 Stephan the Great Street in Soroca occurred on October 27 at about 22.00. As a result of the explosion, a part of the five-storey block was completely destroyed. Four civilians were killed. One firefighter died during rescue works.
