Olympic champion Tudor Casapu needs financial aid for surgery
The Minister of Youth and Sports is calling on businessmen, NGOs and others to donate for Tudor Casapu’s operation that the Olympic champion needs to undergo abroad. The surgery costs about 120,000 euros, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“For this great man, so important to Moldova’s sports world, I’ll donate my wage”, Minister Ion Ciobanu said during a press meeting.
Tudor Casapu is quadruple USSR weightlifting champion (1987-1990), world champion (Budapest, 1990), bronze medal winner at the European and World Championships (1991). He represented Moldova within the CIS unified Olympic team in Barcelona, 1992, and won the gold medal, a unique achievement in Moldovan sports.
