Students of Chisinau schools who won the first place at different contests and Olympiads in 2014-2015 were awarded by the local General Division of Education, Youth and Sport on October 27. The Olympiad Winners Gala 2015 this year was held at the Lyceum “Mihai Berezovschi”, where students of this school staged a concert on this occasion for the laureates, teachers and parents, IPN reports.

There were awarded 240 students. The tenth-twelfth graders received money awards of 800 lei, the fifth-ninth graders – by 550 lei, while the first-fourth graders – by 300 lei. Eighteen of the awardees won international Olympiads.

The Division’s head Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohlenb said she hopes that the awardees will purchase what they need with this money and that the winners of the second and third places would also be awarded in the future, while the money awards will rise annually, as it happened until now. “Such award ceremonies are very important as we must motivate and support the talented and prepared young people,” she stated.

The contests held in the municipality of Chisinau during the 2014-2015 school year involved 5,866 students.

This year it was the fifth Olympiad Winners Gala.
