Olimpus-85 Chisinau beat Universitatea Tiraspol 35-26 in the final of the Men’s Handball Cup of Moldova. Olimpus showed its superiority from the very beginning, being eight goals ahead of its rival before the break, IPN reports.
In the match played at the Alexia Sports Arena, the team from Tiraspol didn’t include such players as the Covalciuc brothers, Ivan Maruha and goalkeeper Denis Potapchin. “It was hard to resist the pressure without four main players. Olimpus was in a good form. That’s why it was hard for us in the final,” the coach of Universitatea Tiraspol Alexandru Covalciuc told a news conference.
“Olimpus is yet to play eight more games in the championship of Ukraine. We have the chance of climbing to the third place there,” said Universitatea Tiraspol player Alexandru Pervanciuc.
Moldova’s Cup was the last competition of the 2014-2015 season. The players will have a vacation until autumn.
