Olimpus-85 wins Moldova Handball Cup

After winning the champions' title last spring, Olimpus-85 nailed down another title this season. The Chisinau-based team won the Moldova Cup on Wednesday after defeating the Tiraspol Pedagogical University in the final, 41-34, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Tiraspol team started the game assertively but gradually the hosts took over the initiative. Thanks to the brilliant game of the brothers Alexei and Alexandru Pervanciuc, and also of the team's best scorer Artiom Juravliov, Olimpus-85 eventually won the match. “I think the difference in value between the players, and the better shape of my players who prepared intensively for European tournaments, played their role in this”, stated Ruslan Verejan, the winners' coach. “I had no reserve players, so I had to use several less experienced players today. We simply didn't resist physically and this explains the result”, said Alexandr Covalciuc, the manager of the second-best Cup finalists.
