The handball club Olimpus-85 took the second place in the Mayor's Cup tournament that ended Tuesday in Chisinau. In the decisive game the Moldovan champions lost to the Ukrainian team Portovik Yuzhny, 29-32, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Moldovan club were losing throughout the game, with a difference of as much as 9 goals at a certain point, but eventually managed to reduce the discrepancy. “We weren't able to hold out physically, but we also had many fails”, said Alexandru Pervanciuc, a Olimpus-85 member and one of the tournament's best players. “Despite squad problems, we managed to fulfill our goal and win this tournament. We should highlight here the high level of the tournament's organization”, said Portovik manager Oleg Sych. The third place was taken by the Romanian club HC Vaslui, who narrowly defeated Belarus' Kronon Belarus in the last game, 24-23.
