Olimpia one step closer to their first Cup final

Olimpia Balti are now one step closer to the first Cup final in the club’s history. On Wednesday, April 20, they defeated Dacia Chisinau 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals. Sidorov scored the late winner on 85 minutes. Rumors claim Dacia will give up reaching the finals in order to focus on winning their first championship. Before the cup fixture, chairman Adlan Sishanov declared: “We have many injured players and we have to determine our priorities”. In the other semi-final, Sheriff Tiraspol managed a narrow win against Iskra-Stal Ribnita. The only goal of the game was scored by Benjamin Balima on 14 minutes. The second legs will be played on May 4. Sheriff have the most Moldovan Cups in their trophy cabinet- 6, including the last three editions. Dacia ended as runners-up three times, while for Olimpia and Iskra-Stal, this would be the first final in their history.
