Olga Ursu elected deputy mayor of Chisinau in charge of economic sector

The head of the staff of the mayor general of Chisinau municipality Olga Ursu was elected deputy mayor in charge of the economic sector by the votes of 27 councilors in the July 15 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.

Mayor General Ion Ceban said Olga Ursu is a valuable professional. “I think that in such conditions, coming from the post of head of staff at the City Hall, where she had to coordinate a lot of projects, field activities and activities related directly to the financial and economic components of the municipality, I think we can trust that she will cope with her tasks. She has the necessary studies, worked in different areas, starting with the financial sector and ending with the economic system, real sector and public sector,” Ion Ceban stated in the Council’s meeting.

Olga Ursu set several priorities in her activity. One of them is to modify the size of transfers from the state budget to the municipal budge. She also aims to inventor all the nonresidential places in Chisinau and to put them to good use.

Vasile Grădinaru, head of PAS group on CMC, said he didn’t vote for Olga Ursu for two reasons – his view on how the public funds should be spent and the way investments were planned this year.

Shor Party councilor Valerii Klimenko asked that the employees of the City Hall should work correctly and should not take bribe. He recommended Ion Ceban to be more attentive when choosing staff for the City Hall.

National Unity Party councilor Corneliu Pântea noted that Olga Ursu has all the necessary professional skills for coping with her duties.

The post fell vacant in June after Inga Ionesii tendered her resignation.
