Olga Coptu was named as head of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations by an order signed by Prime Pavel Filip. The new chief was presented to the staff by the Government’s Secretary General Tudor Copaci, IPN reports.
Tudor Copaci thanked the ex-chief of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations Valeriu Turea and his team for the done work and assured that he will remain as open to cooperation and dialogue.
Olga Coptu said she will continue the initiatives launched at the Bureau and will show responsibility in her work. “I take up my duties with enormous responsibility, but I’m honored to hold this post and I intend to continue all the started activities and projects together with the Bureau’s team. We will engage more members of the diaspora in the activities intended for them and will promote all the initiatives and accomplishments in such areas as diaspora, migration and development,” she stated.
Olga Coptu is a representative of the Moldovan diaspora in Italy, who returned home in 2014. She graduated from the Faculty of History of the State University of Moldova and the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations of the University “La Sapienza di Roma”. In 2009, Olga Coptu founded the Moldovan migrants’ newspaper “Gazeta Basarabiei”, which was distributed to Italy, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium and Greece. Earlier, she worked at the Bureau for Interethnic Relations and at the Ministry of Culture.
