Olesea Stamate: Veronica Dragalin’s zeal really seems nice to me

“I hope that the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office will be as courageous in the high-profile cases,” said PAS MP Olesea Stamate, referring to the letter signed by Veronica Dragalin, according to which the former member of the vetting and pre-vetting commissions Tatiana Răducanu has ties with Veaceslav Platon and Aureliu Kolenko. Stamate noted that the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office was requested by the parliamentary commission to furnish evidence that confirms Tatiana Răducanu’s guilt, IPN reports.

The PAS MP said Veronica Dragalin was summoned to Parliament to provide conclusive evidence of Tatiana Răducanu’s links with Veaceslav Platon and Aureliu Kolenko to the commission for legal matters. The assumptions invoked by Veronica Dragalin in the letter that became known to the public must be substantiated.

“I will avoid saying, at this stage, that there is a connection between Tatiana Răducanu, Platon and Kolenko, as Veronica Dragalin’s letter indicated. We didn’t have this information. If we had this information, we could check further, interview her. In my opinion, such information must be proven. If you make such assumptions, it is good to have other types of evidence that confirm them. I don’t dispute Veronica Dragalin’s right to come out with public positions, but in this case I don’t think it is the right way. When you send a signal regarding the integrity or reputation of an important person in the justice sector reform, from the start you cause damage to this person’s image. When you make such assumptions, you have to take responsibility and I hope that Mrs. Dragalin has assumed this responsibility and what is indicated in the letter is substantiated by other evidence than what we have seen. I hope that Mrs. Dragalin will come to the commission and we will receive the answers we are waiting for,” Olesea Stamate stated in the show “Nonconfidential” on Radio Chisinau.

The MP believes that the decisions of the vetting and pre-vetting commissions on which Tatiana Răducanu worked are legal even if the accusations against the former judge are true.

“Even if that information is true, it is not right to question the decisions taken with the participation of Mrs Răducanu. This letter shows that the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office would do well to be just as courageous when investigating cases of grand corruption. I’m not angry with Veronica Dragalin. Her zeal really seems nice to me. It’s just that I’ve got the impression that the energy is not channeled in the right direction,” said PAS MP Olesea Stamate.

Tatiana Răducanu quit as a member of the vetting and pre-vetting commissions following reports about her ties with Veaceslav Platon and Ilan Shor. According to a letter signed by the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Răducanu is close to and fulfilled the orders of Veaceslav Platon and Aureliu Kolenko, Ilan Shor’s main lawyer. Tatiana Răducanu rejected the accusations, saying that the purpose of this letter is to discredit the vetting and pre-vetting process.
