Oleg Tarnovschi wins silver at European Championships in Bulgaria

Moldovan canoeist Oleg Tarnovschi has improved his result in the 500m race at the Canoe Sprint European Championships held in Bulgaria. After winning bronze in Moscow last year, Tarnovschi won silver in Plovdiv this year, IPN reports.

In the final, Oleg reached the result of 01:46.792, being outperformed only by world and European champion Martin Fuksa of the Czech Republic (01:44.884). Poland’s Tomasz Kaczor ranked third. Oleg Tarnovschi competed also in the final of the 5 000m canoe sprint race and finished eighth with the result of 23:24.150. The race was won by Germany’s Sebastian Brendel (21:45.710).

In Plovdiv, Moldovan pair Oleg Nuta – Ilie Sprancean competed in the final of the 500m canoe doubles. They finished fifth with the result of 01:39.824. Russian athletes Viktor Melantyev and Ivan Shtyl emerged victorious (01:36.264). Romanian pair Leonid Carp - Victor Mihalachi ranked second, while Ukraine’s Dmytro Ianchuk and Taras Mishchuk occupied the third position.
