Oleg Smirnov, the youngest son of the leader from Tiraspol was appointed without one dissentient voice as the leader of the Patriotic Party of Transnistria. He was elected at the constituting congress of this party. It is worth to mention that the initiative group was headed by Oleg Smirnov. According to Tiraspol’s media, the delegates of the constituting congress elected through secret vote the unique candidature proposed for this position, who was Oleg, the son of the Transnistrian leader. In this way he holds now one more office. He is MP in the legislative of Tiraspol, head of the bank “Gazprombank”, high-ranking official of the Transnistrian Customs Service, headed by the older son of Smirnov, Vladimir. The priority directions of party’s activity are strengthening the independence of Transnistria, presidential power in the region as well as geopolitical unification with Russia.
