Oleg Poiata tendered his resignation from the post of head of Centru district of Chisinau. On a social networking site, he wrote that the current administration of the Chisinau City Hall is not legitimate. “Given that the district head is the representative of the mayor at the local level, I cannot represent an illegitimate mayor,” he wrote on his Facebook page, IPN reports.
Oleg Poiata was named head of Centru district in 2014, after in 2013 he held the post on an interim basis. In May 2017, Oleg Poiata was named acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division, after Igor Gamretski was arrested in the case of pay parking spaces.
At the end of last November, acting mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu signed an order to dismiss Oleg Poiata from the post of acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division. Oleg Poiata returned to the post of Centru district head, but had been on leave until now.
