The situation inside the Liberal Party (PL) has changed censurably after a number of MPs left the party and formed the Liberal Reformist Party, Chisinau councilor on behalf of the PL Oleg Cernei, who is running as an independent in the parliamentary elections, said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.
According to Cernei, the leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu became very reserved and suspicious of those who are members of his party. “He even created a team of docile persons. There is no democracy inside the party. Nobody dares to contradict Chimpu,” stated Cernei.
The counselor noted that Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca started to use the same practice. “Persons close to Chirtoaca are being promoted to key posts at the Chisinau City Hall, including relatives, friends and classmates. Emphasis is not laid on the person’s competence. This is the main reason why the deputy mayors weren’t appointed. Two posts of deputy mayor remain vacant, while the two deputy mayors working were named long ago,” he stated.
Cernei also said that he had serious disagreements with the PL’s administration over these matters, while Dorin Chirtoaca became a victim of this party’s system.
The councilor added that the participants in the PL’s Congress, where Mihai Ghimpu was reelected as chairman of the party, expected that Dorin Chirtoaca will take over and the reelection of Ghimpu came as a shock. “I regret that Dorin Chirtoaca didn’t want to become the leader of the PL and preferred to remain Ghimpu’s nephew,” stated Cernei.
